Kolaudace

Occupancy permit, the official approval allowing a Czech building to be used for living. Without it, a unit technically can't be rented out residentially.

Kolaudace is the building approval issued by the local building authority (stavební úřad) after construction or major renovation. It confirms the unit meets safety, accessibility, and zoning standards for residential use.

Most flats in Prague have been kolaudované for decades. But if you're renting a recently converted attic, basement, or commercial space, ask whether it has kolaudace for residential use. Some 'flats' on the market technically aren't, which can cause problems with permanent residence registration.
