Podnájem
A sublease, when the existing tenant rents out part or all of the flat to someone else. Requires written consent from the landlord.
Podnájem is one tenant renting space from another tenant, not from the owner. The arrangement is legal but requires the landlord's written permission (§ 2274 of the Civil Code). Without it, the original lease can be terminated.
If you're sharing a flat with roommates and only one of you is on the lease, the rest are technically subletting. Get the landlord's written consent. It protects everyone.
