Complete your profile and earn the Verified badge
A complete, verified profile is the single biggest signal that gets your applications accepted and your messages replied to. Here's exactly what to fill in.
Why this matters more than people think
Hosts and roommates evaluate you the same way you evaluate them. An empty profile reads as risky, no photo, no bio, no verification means they have nothing to go on, and Prague's market moves too fast for them to chase your details.
Our own data on accepted applications shows: profiles with a photo, a completed bio, and a Verified badge are accepted at roughly three times the rate of profiles missing any of those three. Spending fifteen minutes here saves weeks of being skipped.
Verification is required before you can connect, message, or apply
DomuHQ keeps fake profiles and scammers out by requiring identity verification (Didit) on every account before connecting, messaging, or applying. Once verified, you get the green Verified badge next to your name everywhere on the platform, every profile, every message, every application.
How verification works
DomuHQ uses Didit, an EU/GDPR-compliant verification partner. The flow:
- Scan your government ID (passport, national ID, or driving licence).
- Complete a quick liveness check, a live selfie confirming you're a real, present person.
- Didit matches the selfie to the ID. Usually done in under 2 minutes.
- On success, your Verified badge appears immediately on your profile.
The Verified badge is lifetime
Once you earn it, the Verified badge stays, even if your subscription later ends or you switch plans. Verification also carries across all three personal roles: verify once for Roommate, Renter, and Host. You never have to re-verify per role.
Profile sections that actually matter
Some fields are decorative; some are decisive. Prioritize these:
- Photo, a clear, recent picture of your face. Not a logo, not a landscape. Hosts skim cards before reading bios.
- Short bio, two to four sentences. Who you are, what you do, why you're moving. Skip generic lines like "love to travel".
- Lifestyle preferences, sleep schedule, cleanliness, noise tolerance, guest policy, smoking/drinking, pets, hobbies. These drive your match scores with other roommates.
- Move-in window, the date range you can actually move. Hosts filter by this; leaving it blank hides you from their best matches.
- Profile Score (visible in My Hub, e.g. 60/100), boost it via Manage Profile.
Where your verification data lives
Didit handles the ID + biometric processing under data-processing agreements. Verification artifacts are hosted in AWS Ireland (EEA). We never share your ID with hosts, roommates, listing managers, or other users, they only ever see the Verified badge next to your name. If verification fails (poor lighting, expired document), you get a clear reason and can retry; there's no cooldown and no retry limit.
What's different for hosts
If you're a host, your profile has additional sections: company name (if applicable), preferred contact channel, and reservation policies. These appear on every listing you publish, so don't leave them generic. Hosts who write a specific, friendly intro book viewings noticeably faster.
Step-by-step
- 1
Open your profile editor
10 secondsTap your avatar in the top-right, then Edit profile. On mobile, this is under the menu icon.
- 2
Upload a profile photo
30 secondsPick a clear, well-lit photo of your face. Avoid group shots, sunglasses, or filters that obscure features. A square or portrait crop works best on cards.
- 3
Write your bio
3 minutesTwo to four sentences. Include who you are (job or studies), why you're moving (relocation, university, new job), and one human detail (early riser, runs, doesn't cook much).
- 4
Fill in lifestyle preferences
2 minutesSleep window, cleanliness, noise tolerance, guest policy, smoking/drinking, pets. Answer honestly, the roommate match score uses these and the model catches mismatches between what you put here and what others put.
- 5
Start identity verification (Didit)
2 minutesTap Verify identity in My Hub. Have your passport or national ID nearby. You'll scan the ID and take a short live selfie. Mobile-first; most users finish in under two minutes.
- 6
Set your move-in window
20 secondsSet the earliest date you can move and the latest you can wait. This is used by host filters and by your roommate matches, leaving it blank quietly removes you from a lot of search results.
Frequently asked questions
Which identity documents are accepted?
Government-issued passport, national ID card, or driving licence from any country supported by Didit. The document must be valid (not expired) and clearly photographable from both sides where applicable.
How long does verification usually take?
Most verifications complete automatically within 2 minutes of submission. If Didit needs manual review (low-light photo, unusual document type), it can take up to 24 hours. You'll get an email and an in-app notification with the outcome.
Is the Verified badge really lifetime?
Yes. Once earned, the badge stays even if you cancel your subscription, switch plans, or take a break from the platform. It's tied to your verified identity, not to your billing status.
Do I have to verify once per role (Roommate, Renter, Host)?
No. Verification carries across all three personal roles on the same account. Verify once and it counts for everything.
Who can see my ID after I verify?
No one outside Didit's verification flow. Hosts, roommates, listing managers, and other DomuHQ users only ever see the green Verified badge next to your name. Your document image is stored in AWS Ireland and never exposed in the app.
What happens if my verification fails?
You'll see the specific reason ("photo too blurry", "document expired") and a single Retry button. No cooldown and no retry limit. If you keep getting stuck after two or three attempts, contact support and we'll walk through it with you.
